Join our next gathering

We encourage everyone to visit our gatherings. They are usually held the first Saturday of every month, September through July – that’s our “folk year”. Check out this year’s schedule here.

Visiting gives you a chance to see what our group is like before you join. This is especially useful because one of the distinctive things about PCFS is our participatory approach to folk activities. Many folk organizations exist mainly to present concerts. While Paint Creek does present some concerts, our focus is more on encouraging our members to participate; to learn and share traditional songs, stories, music and dance — as well as listening to and watching others. After all, this stuff is too much fun to be reserved for professionals!

 

We are always looking for people with ideas and energy to help us set up snacks, fill Board positions, plan various events and volunteer to help during PCFS activities.

Annual Dues as of 9/1/2021:

Single:                                   $50

Family (two or more)         $90

Sustaining Single               $100

Sustaining Family              $150

Dues cover one year, from September through August

Membership Questions

If membership doesn’t sound right for you at the moment, you can still attend gatherings as a visitor whenever you want.  Members attend free of charge, and visitors are asked to contribute $10.  This fee is waived for your first visit.

Complete a membership form and pay the annual dues and you’re in!

Members can attend all gatherings for the year at a discount (about 50% off). We’ll add you to our member email list so you’ll get “Keepin’ Tabs” our monthly newsletter, and other updates.  We’ll also add your contact information to our membership directory so you can get in touch with other “Paint Creekers” between gatherings. The directory is not published on our website or anywhere else online – only members get a copy. And above all, you’ll get to share lots of great music and great times with your fellow members.

There are lots of ways to participate. Come and listen, share a song or a tune, sponsor the snack at a gathering, give a presentation (get paid to do it), help out at any of our events, Teach or Learn to play an instrument, join the Board and help run the club. (see more volunteer opportunities at the bottom of the membership form.)

Be welcoming to visitors and other members. Be a respectful and supportive listener, performer or volunteer. Volunteer some time and effort to support running the group. Make PCFS a friendly place to be!

Paint Creek Folklore Society (PCFS) Privacy Policy

The Paint Creek Folklore Society (PCFS) collects limited personal information (name, address, phone#, email address, interests) from members for the purposes of maintaining a list of members and their membership status, for informing the membership of PCFS and related activities, and to support conducting of PCFS business. PCFS does not share the personal information of members, other than for the purposes stated above, without the member’s permission. We also collect limited personal information (name, address, email address) from non-members wishing to receive our monthly newsletter. 

 

We may distribute relevant information to our membership received from, or about, external groups for the purpose of informing the membership of upcoming events such as festivals, concerts, and classes available, etc.  Non-member email information is intended to be used only for the distribution of our monthly newsletter Keepin’ Tabs.  Other significant information may also be distributed on rare occasions, such as a late change in status of the annual Tin Whistle Concert due to weather, etc.

 

We do not sell to or share with external groups any member or non-member email lists or other personal information.
